Victorea Quinton-Hairston, a Waubonsie Valley High School senior (class of 2019), was selected to be a member of GLSEN's National Student Council. The NSC is a council comprised of 18 LGBTQ+ identifying youth from all over the country. Victorea will be working with them all year to produce content that will positively affect the lives of LGBTQ+ students. She's working on two year long campaigns (one about institutionalized racism and the other about improving GSAs). She is also working with council members on a day of action campaign for No Name Calling Week. Victorea traveled to New York City this summer for a 4 day summit to begin her work with the NSC. She said: "The summit was an amazing opportunity for all of us to come together and bond. We met community leaders and even Dyllon Burnside from the show Pose. This experience really has me excited to change the world!!"
